Mental Health and suicide trends are on the rise and the Oil & Gas industry is being directly impacted. Rates of mental health concerns and completed suicides are increasing in the industry and surpassing the US average rate of 14.1 per 100,000 which equates to 1 death every 11 minutes. If we were losing employees at this rate to any other hazard, our safety cultures would demand immediate and sustained action.
It is proven that effective mental health programming saves lives, while improving safety, and productivity. We can take this opportunity to collaborate as an industry to address improvements in creating and maintaining cost effective cultures and programs that support the mental wellbeing of this unique workforce.
